Principles for Responsible Investment

About PRI:

The Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) is a UN-supported network of investors, working to promote sustainable investment through the incorporation of environmental, social and governance factors (ESG) into investment decision-making. For more information about PRI, please visit click here to be directed to their website.

The Principles for Responsible Investment were developed by an international group of institutional investors reflecting the increasing relevance of environmental, social and corporate governance issues to investment practices. The process was convened by the United Nations Secretary-General.  The six Principles of Responsible Investment as outlined by the United Nations are as follows:

  • Principle 1: We will incorporate ESG issues into investment analysis and decision-making processes.

  • Principle 2: We will be active owners and incorporate ESG issues into our ownership policies and practices.

  • Principle 3: We will seek appropriate disclosure on ESG issues by the entities in which we invest.

  • Principle 4: We will promote acceptance and implementation of the Principles within the investment industry.

  • Principle 5: We will work together to enhance our effectiveness in implementing the Principles.

  • Principle 6: We will each report on our activities and progress towards implementing the Principles.

Pier became a PRI signatory in 2018 as an Investment Manager.  To access Pier’s PRI’s Public Signatory Reports, please click here.  These UNPRI survey/reports include modules that solicit information from signatories, including Pier Capital, LLC, on various topics including strategy and governance. Information is self-reported by signatories and is not audited by any party.  UNPRI are a set of voluntary and aspirational principles which signatories are required to report publicly on their responsible investment activities each year. ESG integration is an explicit factor in this assessment.

Pier’s adherence to PRI framework does not materially alter the firm’s investment strategies and does not materially alter the firm’s long-standing investment process. For more information on Pier’s ESG process click here.
